Recreation

Residents are dependent on their group home support staff for recreation. Every weekend and many evenings there are activities availble to attend. Within short a short drive there should be places of local interest to enjoy. Being outside in a park can even be a nice change from sitting in a group home or day treatment program most of the week. Places to go can be found from a number of sources:

  • Online searches
  • Newspapers
  • News
  • Public Announcements
  • Word of mouth

Often residents’ social life is limited, so when planning recreational outings, invite the staff and residents from other homes. Sometimes family and non-disabled/mentally ill friends appreciate being invited to a recreational activity that the group home support staff will be responsible for the planning and preparation of the activity.
