Jan’s Ideas is my blog that documents my journey as an internet entrepreneur. It has simple ideas and resources for others who want to begin earning income online. Self-employment is a successful option for many disabled residents.

The blog was hacked into and I lost 3/4 of the posts. I’m still in the process of restoring the blog, recovering posts and reposting. Another site to help get started as an internet entrepreneur is my son’s blog, Bob Schmuck

Jan Has a New Dog |

 Last Saturday, Jan got a new dog, a beautiful 1-1/2 year old husky/malamute mix. The dog lived in a remote area in Portal, AZ with her owner and 4 other dogs. Shasta is slowly adjusting to being an inside dog and having a family. It’s almost like the movie “50 First Dates”, Jan and her family has to make friends daily with the dog because it will bark at them! She is a sweet, quiet, and gentle dog. Shasta gets along with Jan’s three cats. Even though the dog has never lived indoors, she has never had an accident, chewed anything, or taken food from anyone. She doesn’t even try to eat the cat’s food that is within her reach! Every day the dog improves on adjusting and loves the attention showered on her. She is sure to get over her shyness soon.

Jan Was a Pageant Finalist |

Jan was a state finalist in the Illinois Miss United Teenager Pageant.
 She did the required community service hours for the pageant by doing volunteer work for Easter Seals. She participated in a fund raising fair and she also raised funds for them while participating in a dance marathon. She volunteered over the minimum required hours both years.
She was a finalist in the pageant in 1977 and 1988. She received the Miss Congeniality award in 1988.
 It was a fun experience for her and she met lots of nice people. Her scrapbook had been packed away for years. Her older sons didn’t remember seeing it when they were little and her daughters never saw the scrapbook till 2006. Everyone thought it was pretty cool, but they couldn’t help but laugh at the hair styles!!
