Well, I’m back on decided my first post after a little blog neglect would be about the Blog Carnivals. These carnivals will provide links to some really great posts.
Blog Carnival #15-Family and Disability-Topic: Loss of Anonymity
The description of the Blog Carnival by Kathryn, creator of Ryn Tales, blog:
“This topic of anonymity is a BIG one for parents, like myself, of special needs kids as well as disabled adults and their families. As a parent you may be able to pass your beautiful baby off as normal (sometimes depending upon how many tubes they are attached to or how badly they were injured at birth) to others and even to yourself. I remember thinking when I was holding little infant baby Ellie, to enjoy this time because it would be the most “normal†it would ever get (total care is the norm for a 4 month old). And of course it wasn’t normal, but it could pass a little for normal and I clung to that for a while because the near, middle and far future were filled with scary possibilities and so many unknowns.”
Blog Carnival #16-Borders
The description of the Blog Carnival by Jana the creator of the blog, Pilgrim Girl:
“I grouped the blogposts for this Carnival into three categories to reflect the different types of stories told by our participants: Borders in Public Spaces, Defining the Borders of Disability, and Physical Borders. These categories are somewhat arbitrary given the complexity of the expressions of these blog authors. It is my hope that the variety of experiences in each section will underscore the diversity of those who navigate the Borders of disability.”
Blog Carnival #17-Laughter, the Best Medicine
The description of the Blog Carnival by Stephen Kuusisto the creator of the blog, Planet of the Blind:
“The theme we chose is “Laughter, The Best Medicine”, borrowed from the column with the same name in The Reader’s Digest Magazine.  Simply put, we felt we needed to laugh. Things had gotten much too serious around the Kuusisto household and we figured we might not be alone in that regard. More importantly, we hope you find reason to laugh.”
Blog Carnival #18-The Disabled! We are just like you!
The description of the Blog Carnival by the creator of the blog, Retired Waif:
“This edition of the Disability Blog Carnival is designed to explain the the untutored able-bodied type that there’s nothing abnormal about us… we’re just like them! Please do accept my tongue-in-cheek parody and sweeping generalization in the spirit it’s meant, and don’t allow my irreverence to detract from some of the awesome, wonderful writing to be found in the posts”
While you check out these amazing posts on these blogs, I will be busy writing and scheduling the posts to return to new posts every other day.
